Osteopathy is a manual therapy, like physiotherapy and chiropractic, that works with the structure and function of the body. It is based on the principle that the well-being of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissue functioning smoothly together.
Osteopathy is a holistic system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions including generalised aches and pains, headaches, arthritic pain, upper and lower back pain, neck pain, tennis & golfers elbow, shoulder pain, hand & wrist pain, sciatica, hip & knee pain, digestion problems and foot and ankle pain.
What To Expect
Initial consultations last around 1 hour and during this time a detailed case history will be taken to find out details of general health, lifestyle and medical history. This aids the examination and diagnosis, or indicates whether referral is more appropriate. Please note that treatment may not be given if consent is not gained, or deemed appropriate. During the examination you may be asked to dress down to your underwear or sportswear, to look at the functionality of the body as a whole. If you feel uncomfortable at any point please let your practitioner know. Further non-invasive medical tests may be carried out if necessary, for example blood pressure may be taken. A working diagnosis and the osteopathic findings will be explained to you, and a suggested treatment plan will be discussed. Management of patients may involve soft-tissue stretching and massage, joint mobilisation, manipulation thrust techniques, and lifestyle and exercise advice. Some patients may feel a little sore after treatment for 24-48 hours. Your practitioner will discuss this with you and answer any questions you may have. The number of appointments needed depends upon the response to treatment and chronicity of the problem. A suggested management plan will be discussed during the initial consultation. Return appointments last around 60-40 minutes. To find out more about what to expect please visit the General Osteopathic Council website.
£95 per appointment.
Holly is very professional and knowledgable! I recently had a low back problem, and Holly explained why it was happening and gave some fantastic treatment that relieved the pain. I since have had no problems and using the information/exercises Holly gave me I have the tools to prevent it coming back again. Fantastic all round treatment and magic hands - would highly recommend to anyone!
Thank you for your professional assessment and treatment of my lower lumbar region problem on Thursday evening- it made a difference. This was my first visit to an osteopath after many years of seeing physiotherapists for various sports injuries. I think your clinic is an excellent addition to the services and facilities offered by the Hurlingham Club. I would encourage other members to avail themselves of osteopathic treatments.
I went to Holly's osteopath clinic in West London with lower back pain. After a few weeks of treatment and guidance from her I was able to sort out my posture and learn day to day exercises which will help my back pain in the long term. Excellent service I would recommend to everyone!
